The Best Newborn Swaddle
Thoughts of those first couple months with my newborns fills me with equal parts nostalgia and anxiety. It is such a precious, fleeting time… but it would be unfair to not acknowledge the associated stress. For me, most of that stress centered around sleep. First, I’m an emotional disaster without sleep (even sans postpartum hormones!). Second, I knew I would be returning to work soon and I wanted baby to be sleeping as well as possible by that (ridiculously short) 12-week mark.
This Miracle Baby swaddle wrap was such a game changer for us. It is unique in the way it wraps baby’s arms to prevent the Houdini swaddle escape (IYKYK) that can interrupt sleep. (Watch videos demos on Amazon to see what I mean!) We kept several as backups in the case of blowouts, etc, because we never wanted to put our babies down in any other swaddle.
The 100% cotton was soft and breathable, yet resilient. We were still using the same ones with our most recent baby that we bought 5 years ago with our first (plus one in between!)
I tended to use 100% cotton gowns under the swaddle (favorites include these or these) because it kept their lower body a bit warmer and made overnight diaper changes a smoother. I had babies in both the summer and winter, and never felt like a gown was too much. However, short sleeve or long sleeve onesies are great as well.
Pair the swaddle with the Hatch Baby Sound Machine and you’ve got a solid start on helping baby sleep! 🌿
